Compare New Car PricesCars the most happening and the most dynamic industry in today\'s world. Earlier, they were considered to be the luxury designed for the rich. But nowadays, even middle class segment cars have started hitting the markets making the buys irresistible. At this point, if one wants to buy a car just blindly, the car dealers are sure to take a ride on him. They will try to sell him the non-saleable for a premium price and the aftermath agony of the buyer is unthinkable. So, better be aware of the markets before you a take a decision to buy a car. For that, the best way is to do online queries regarding the pricing of different segment cars, the features present them, the low quotes extended by the dealers and the after sales service and warranty conditions just to save you from being duped by the car dealers. If it is so happens that the online dealer is offering the cars at reasonable prices and you have the confidence that he is genuine, you can also buy from him only thereby saving a lot of time. But for searching online about the new car prices one has to be aware of certain terms.
They are listed below:
Invoice price: It is the base quoted price by the car dealer in which freight charges are also included. While enquiring about the invoice price, make sure that the price is inclusive of the freight charges, if not the dealer can end up charging double freight charges from you.
Manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP): The federal law required the dealers to affix a sticker price by the manufacturer to the windows which can be removed by the purchaser. It is inclusive of the base price of the vehicle, the manufacturers installation options, Manufacturers transportation charges and fuel economy details.
Dealer sticker price: It is a supplementary sticker price which adds up the dealer installation options such as Additional dealer mark up (ADM) or additional dealer profit (ADP) on the MSRP.
Dealer holdbacks: Usually every dealer holds around 2% of the MSRP or the invoice price on foreign vehicles and 3% of the MSRP or the invoice on domestic vehicles. Your bargaining power is put to test in reducing the maximum of this percentage. In fact, even if the whole of holdback percentage is reduced, the dealer still gets certain profit on every car sold. Hence, you should bargain tactfully so that the best price quote can be obtained.
The best price for any car as a thumb rule is a mark up of 3% over the dealers real cost of the vehicle. But as any dealer would never like to give out the base cost, you have to estimate it yourself. It can be calculated by multiplying the sales tax percentage to the invoice price, holdback amount and any dealer incentives and adding the resultant sales tax figure to the actual cost of the car.
If you are thinking of exchanging your old car to a new one, don\'t let out that point until you get the best quote for the new car which you wish to purchase. Once, the new car price is decided upon then you can easily trade in your old car.
Auto financing: Don\'t be carried away by the dealer\'s presentation of finance options. They can ditch you with hidden charges. So, better arrange your own finances through loans from banks at lower interest.
Be careful about the price of the extended warranty or service contracts: Make sure you know the price you are paying for them. In fact, if you find them costlier, service contracts are also available in the outside market.
The following points are to be considered as according to the Federal consolidation information centre before making a purchase:
Coverage under warranty and service contract differences,
The repairs that are covered under the above services,
How are the labour charges and cost of parts covered
Can repairs be performed in any shop or any authorised dealers are present for that purpose and if so, their addresses and availability, Period of service contracts etc.
Further, you should also consider the future resale value of the car you choose to buy. Thus you can start shopping for the best suitable car. However, as you know, there are around 30 car companies, each offering around 10 models of their cars for different segments with many variations. To decide upon the best car could be very difficult unless some type of comparison is not presented in this context.
Accordingly, some important comparisons on the most famous new car brands are presented below. The data given below is dependant on the markets as on this date and deviations may be possible to some extent in the future:
Honda CR-V with a LX front wheel drive can be compared to the Toyota RAV 4 base front wheel drive model. These both are small sports utility vehicles with MSRP\'s of $20,600 and $20,950 respectively. The invoice prices also have a very small difference of around $200 only. The Toyota RAV 4 is costlier but when we observe the mileage part, the Toyota car gives a slightly more mpg (miles per gallon) than the Honda CR-V. Other than that, the engine is the same for both the vehicles while Honda has a transmission of 5 spd, Toyota has only 4 spd.
Honda Accord sedan when compared to Toyota Camry, their MSRPs are $18,625 and $18470 with invoice prices of $16,890 and $16,898 respectively. Toyota has a better sales service than the Honda. The engines have 166 and 155 Hps respectively, while the transmission speed is the same. Honda is more fuel efficient than Toyota that it gives 26 mpg when compared to 24 mpg given by the Toyota. In highway, both are equal in fuel efficiency.
Chevrolet Aveo and Toyota Yaris have MSRPs $12,010 and $11,150 and invoice price of $11,349 and $10,480 respectively. The engines have almost similar horse powers and the transmission speed is also the same. However, the Toyota is highly fuel efficient than Chevy that it gives 34mpg in city while Chevy gives only 27 mpg. But Chevy cars are all the more known for their excellent performance and that takes care of the after sales service bill. Both these cars are for the lower end markets.
Ford F-150 and Chevy Silver -1500 have MSRPs of $17,345 and $17,860 and invoice price of $16,327 and $16,877 respectively. Both the cars are available in two versions of engines 248 and 300 HP for Ford and 295 and 315 HP for Chevy while the transmission speed is the same and 4 for both of them. The Fuel efficiency is 14 and 17 respectively in city for both the cars. In fact both these cars are trucks ideal for weekend outings.
Thus many other cars can be compared and after a detailed analysis of all the cars and their comparisons we should decide the features which we would like to have for our car and then proceed to shop on the car which best suits our pocket and wins our heart.
