Compare Trucks

Truck is a vehicle that is used for the purpose of transporting different types of materials like equipment, bulk goods etc. There are many names by which trucks are called as like Lorry, which is the name used for heavy trucks in United Kingdom, Heavy Good Vehicles, which is the term that is used for heavy trucks in United States etc. There are many manufacturers of trucks and each of them is different from other in some features. Thus, when a person or a fleet operator etc wishes to buy a truck, he has to ensure that the truck he is buying is the best that suits his needs. This can be done by way of truck comparison. Truck comparison is the process in which different available trucks are compared so as to find the best truck available. Trucks are sometime called as pickup vans etc also. It is not necessary that only vehicles with heavy body and large capacity are trucks. Smaller vehicles that have small capacity and used for carrying goods etc from one place to another are also included in the category of trucks.

There are many sources of making comparison between the different types of trucks available in the market. Most important among these are the online sources. There are of course many aspects that are taken into consideration for making truck comparison like interior details, exterior parts, price of truck, engine specifications, mileage, etc. It is important to note here that a person is able to make the best comparison when the two or three trucks, that are available, are compared side by side so that each aspect of different types of trucks is compared. For making a truck comparison, it is very important that a person should know about the different types of trucks that are available in the market. For example, if a person is comparing trucks in United States, different brands of trucks available are Cadillac, Isuzu, Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford, Honda, Chevrolet etc. Mostly, the comparing sources also provide pictures of these trucks and a person can easily sort the trucks by pictures. Used trucks can also be compared, as there are many sources that provide necessary information about them.

Most of the online sources require a person to make selection among different choices so as to make comparison among different types of trucks. There are two options that are required to be selected. The first field in both the options is the year. The year of manufacture has to be entered in this. If new trucks are being compared, current year is normally the year of manufacture. In case of used trucks, the year can be found out in registration papers etc. The second option that a person is required to enter is the make. This means the name of manufacturer of truck like Nissan etc. The third option is model. Since there are many models of trucks that are manufactured by each truck manufacturer, a person is required to provide the exact name of the model. Most of the online sources help a person in entering all the information required above by way of drop-downs that contain specific information. One all the information is entered; a person can easily make a comparison among different trucks and can find the best among them.

For understanding the concept to truck comparison and using the information provided after making comparison, let us compare two famous trucks in United States. These two trucks are Ford F 150 XL Styleside Regular Cab, which would be referred as F in further discussion, and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Short Box Regular Cab, which would be referred as C by us. Both the trucks are manufactured in same year, that is, 2003. Let us first compare the general information. The invoice value of F is about $17151, whereas in case of C, it is about $19688. These are standard invoice values and the actual price for which these are obtained in the market may differ. The list price of the two is more than the invoice price. List price of F is $19425 whereas the list price of C is $22500. Both the trucks fall in the category of large pick-up vehicles.

The satisfaction rating in percentage terms for F has been registered as 75 whereas for C, it is 81. In terms of general information, both the trucks are looking almost similar. Let us now compare the performance of two trucks. The engine capacity of F is 4.2L and is six cylinders whereas the engine capacity of C is 4.3L and is six cylinders. Both of them are right wheel drive. The transmission speed of both the trucks is same and the compression ratio is also the same, which is 9.20:1. So far the horsepower is concerned, F is having horsepower of 202 hp and is able to provide 4800 rpm whereas the horsepower of C is about 200hp and is able to provide 4600rpm. The torque of F is 252 at the rate of 3400 whereas the torque of C is 260 at the rate of 2800. The cylinder bore of F is about 3.81 whereas the cylinder bore of C is 4.00. The gallon tank of F can hold 30 lit whereas the gallon tank of C can hold 26 lit. The fuel delivery of F is SEFI whereas of C, it is MPFI. Thus, if the performance of two is compared, it can be said that F is having a slight edge over C despite the fact that the cylinder size is small as compared to C. Since it is available with lower price, most of persons would like to go for F, except those persons that like MPFI engines.

The above example helps us in understanding how the comparison between trucks, whether two or three can be made and best can be selected. There are other variable also for which the trucks can be compared which includes dimensions of truck, convenience features etc.
