Text wrapping around shapes through Attach in path feature.

Requirement

This tutorial was written for Fireworks CS4 and higher

Tutorial

  1. To wrap a text around an object, you have first to create the shape for the text. In our example, we are wrapping text around a circle.
  2. Draw a circle, 177x177 px in diameter and a rectangle 277x160 px which will be the container for the text. See Figure 1.

  4. Make sure the circle is on top the rectangle. Select them both then go to Modify > Combine Paths > Punch and punch. See Figure 2.

  6. Add some text. Select both the text and the shape and go to Text > Attach In Path. And your text is now in your shape. See Figure 3.

  11. The text must be contained in a closed shape and it does not work with Auto Shapes unless you ungroup them.
