Figure 6: Linear Gradient
At this point the coin side is almost complete and now we can add whatever on it. For us, it will be a dollar symbol.

Figure 7: The coin
To give the dollar symbol a 3D look without using any filter, we will use a simple method for creating a clean pixel bevel text. Take your Text Tool and write the dollar symbol in Arial (or another font). Then duplicate or Clone the symbol twice. You shoud have now 3 copies on top of each other with the following colors. See Figure 8. The yellow is the top layer.

Figure 8: 3 copies
To create the 3D text, we assume that the light is coming from the upper left corner, that is why the light color is placed on the left and the dark on the right. Select the sublayer of the white dollar and move it 1px to the left with the Left Arrow from the numeric pad. See Figure 9.

Figure 9: White layer
Select the sublayer of the dark dollar and move it 2px to the right with the Right Arrow from the numeric pad. See Figure 10.

Figure 10: Dark layer
To apply a gradient to a Text, click the color box
, the color pop-up window opens and click on Fill Options ... . See Figure 11. And in the first Combo box you select Gradient.
The completed tutorial with a glitter. See Figure 11.
