Fireworks Splash Screen can be customized but icons, cursors, etc too.
Tutorial
You can customize almost everything in Fireworks and to illustrate how to do it we will start by the splash screen customization.
ResHack (ResourceHacker)
Reshack is a FREEWARE utility to view, modify, add, rename and delete resources in Win32 executables and resource files. Incorporates an internal resource compiler and decompiler. Works on Win9x, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP. Reshack is included in the zip file. This excellent and powerful tool lets you customize icons, bitmaps, dialog boxes and more!
How it works
Run ResHack, then click File > Open. Select Resources.dll located under the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS3\English\resources\ then select bitmap and 2301 and you can see the Splash Screen on the right panel.

Selection Action > [Bitmap: 2301 : 1033] ... and save it as .bmp to any location of your preference.
Please make a backup copy of Resources.dll first.
Now you have the 570x268 px default Fireworks CS3 splash screen! Fire up Fireworks, edit the original .bmp file to your hearts content and then export it as a BMP 24 file.
Launch ResShack, select Bitmap > 2301 > 1033 again, and then Action > Replace Bitmap.

Subsequently click on "Open file with new bitmap". Choose your new splash screen with a .bmp extension, then click on Replace and your the splash screen is replaced. Don't forget to save and you are done!

This same technique is suitable for other Suite 3 products:
Thanks for the tip. It worked perfectly to fix a virus attach which changed both the splash screen and the welcome screen (Recent files, Create New etc.). Was wondering if I can use the same technique to fix the welcome screen. I could elect to not display it but recent files is useful.
