Tutorial

Introduction

In this tutorial we will see how we can mount a button on the texture of our background.
Step 1
Open a 100 x 100 px document. Cross 2 guides on 50px. Using the Ellipse Tool, make a perfect circle of 36px radius (72 px diameter). Fill the circle with a linear Black-White fill and use the Bucket Tool to change the direction of the gradient.
Step 2
While the circle is selected, feather by 3px our circle. See Properties panel > Edge menu. Clone the circle (Ctrl + Shift + D) make its edge anti-alias, and resize it with Numeric Transform (Modify > Transform > Numeric Transform) to be 3px smaller than the first one (69 px).
Step 3
Select both circles and select Modify > Combine Paths > Punch . Make a new layer and lock the current one. We can work easier this way without the possibility of selecting something we do not want.
Step 4
Draw a new 34px radius circle (68px diameter). Also apply a Black-White linear gradient. Use the Bucket Tool to rotate the gradient and make it opposite to the one we did in Step 1. Make sure its edge is anti-alias and not feather.
Step 5
Clone the circle again and resize (Numeric Transform) the topmost circle to 66px. Again, select the 2 circles and Punch (Modify > Combine Paths > Punch).
Step 6
Make a new layer and lock the current one. Draw a 32.5px circle (65px diameter). Use Radial gradient with 2 colors that match your layout to make a nice button.
Step 7
We are done! When you do it ounce you will see that it is very easy to accomplish and you can have a very nice mounted button.
